The Dadvengers Expectant Fathers Handbook

Becoming a dad doesn't come with a manual. Until now.
The Dadvengers Expectant Fathers Handbook is a practical, honest book for dads-to-be, created with dads in mind. From the first "wait, what?" moment to your first nappy change and beyond, it walks you through pregnancy, birth and the early weeks of fatherhood, one step at a time.

A book for every dad-to-be

Whether you planned it for years or found out last Tuesday, this handbook is for you. It's written for:
1
First-time dads who want to feel ready, not just look ready
2
Dads who weren't expecting to be expecting, and are still catching up
3
Second-time dads who want to do things differently this time
4
Every kind of dad and every kind of family
No jargon, no lectures and no pretending you've got it all sorted. Just the stuff you actually need to know, in the order you need to know it.

What's inside the Expectant Fathers Handbook

The handbook follows your journey in two parts: getting ready for your baby, and finding your feet once they're here.
Part 1

Before the baby arrives

  • Accepting you're going to be a dad, and the four phases most dads go through
  • What you'll actually need (and what you really don't)
  • What to expect at appointments and in labour
  • How to be a great birth partner
  • Looking after your own head while you look after everyone else
Part 2

After your baby arrives

  • Nappy changes, step by step (newborns can need changing 10 to 12 times a day, so you'll get plenty of practice)
  • Supporting mum after the birth
  • Surviving the first few weeks at home
  • Going back to work, and the dad worries nobody talks about

Am I ready to be a dad? A sneak peek inside

Becoming a dad usually happens in stages, not all at once. In the handbook we break it down into four phases most dads move through before the baby arrives:
Phase 1
The Mild Shock Phase
You might feel stunned, excited, panicked or unsure what you feel at all.
Phase 2
The Analysis Phase
The questions kick in. Am I ready? Can I do this? What does this change?
Phase 3
The Acceptance Phase
Things start to feel real, and you start preparing instead of trying to answer every question.
Phase 4
The Embracing Phase
Confidence grows, excitement creeps in, and fatherhood starts to feel like yours.
You might move through them quickly, slowly, or bounce between them. That's completely normal. Wherever you are right now is okay.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Expectant Fathers Handbook coming out?

The handbook launches in 2027. Register for pre-orders and you'll be the first to hear the exact date.

How much will it cost?

We'll share the price with everyone on the pre-order list first, along with any early-bird offers.

Is it only for first-time dads?

No. It's written with first-time dads in mind, but plenty of second-time dads tell us things felt different the second time round. If you want to feel more prepared, it's for you.

My partner is already well into the pregnancy. Is it too late?

Not at all. The handbook covers the run-up to birth and the first weeks with your baby, so you can start wherever you are.

Can I buy it as a gift?

Yes, and lots of people will. Register for pre-orders and we'll let you know as soon as you can order a copy for the dad-to-be in your life.

Does it replace antenatal classes?

No, it works alongside them. If you want more support, our Expectant Fathers Course is a great next step, with sessions run by dads, for dads.
