This week, we delve into the difficult questions our kids ask. You know the ones, from “where do babies come from” to “what happens when we die…”. Those questions that make you stop in your tracks and wonder how to answer!
We switched things up with our hosts this week and Mark and Ashleigh kicked off the first hour. They were joined by a Dad Chats regular, who told us all about the difficult questions his kids have asked him. Nigel took the helm for the second hour, and spoke to another community member who told us about the brilliant questions his kids have asked!
Delving into this topic with our community, and getting different perspectives on how to deal with these tricky situations. We all agreed that communication is so important with our kids. We have a great post called Helpful Advice on Communicating With Children About Feelings – this might help you out if you’re trying to navigate some tricky conversations that bring up big feelings.
If you enjoyed this chat, why not delve into some more? We talk about a huge range of topics on Dad Chats Live, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, why not get in touch and suggest a topic to us? We’d love to hear from you!
The (not so) Difficult Questions We Asked!
1. What is the most difficult question your child/children have ever asked you, and how did you respond?
2. When kids ask difficult questions, do you feel it’s best to be completely honest? Or to try and sugar coat the truth?
3. What’s the funniest little white lie you’ve told when your kids have asked a question that you really don’t want to answer?
