“Out of the Box” Dadvengers Went On A Theatrical Adventure with a Purpose

2 Mins read

On Sunday, 26th January, the North London Dadvengers went on a theatrical adventure. We gathered at Jacksons Lane in Highgate for a special outing to see the one-man show Out of the Box. And what an experience it was! This family-friendly comedy performance was packed with surprises, laughter, and interactive moments that kept both kids and dads fully engaged.

The show revolves around an unlikely character and his mysterious box. Each time the box is opened a new and unexpected adventure is revealed. From trick shots to mini performances, every moment was a delight, inviting the audience to be part of the fun. Darryl, the show’s neurodiverse creator, masterfully involved everyone without any embarrassing interactions—just pure, joyful entertainment.

A Juggling Lesson with a Powerful Message

The fun didn’t end with the show! After the performance, we were treated to a 20-minute juggling workshop with Darryl himself. He shared his personal journey, explaining how juggling played a significant role in helping him manage his ADHD symptoms. Hearing him speak about the impact of the skill on his mental health was truly inspiring and provided valuable insight for both dads and kids alike.

Why Theatrical Adventures Like This Matter

At Dadvengers, our theatre trips, cinema outings, and other activities all serve a bigger purpose: fostering deep, meaningful relationships between dads and their children. We believe that by creating these shared experiences, we help strengthen family bonds while also promoting mental health awareness and understanding neurodiversity.

For dads, these moments offer a chance to connect with their kids in a relaxed and joyful setting, free from daily stresses. For children, seeing their fathers engaged, present, and supportive creates lasting memories and reinforces emotional security. Beyond the family unit, events like these also help break down societal stigmas surrounding fatherhood, mental health, and neurodiversity.

A Special Thanks

This incredible trip was made possible through the support of NCEL CAMHS, as part of the CYPMH Early Intervention & Community Support grant scheme. Their contribution has allowed us to create more opportunities for dads to engage with their children in meaningful ways. We will always remember when Dadvengers went on a theatrical adventure.

Join Us for More Dad Meet-Ups

We have plenty more dad meet-ups and events coming up as part of this funding initiative. If you’re a dad looking to connect with other fathers while creating unforgettable experiences with your children, we’d love to see you at one of our North London meet-ups. Check out the details below and come along for the next adventure!

Let’s continue shaping a new landscape for fatherhood—one event at a time.
